A Thank You and Introducing A New Way To Watch!

Hello everyone! Yesterday I sent out an email requesting your assistance in the form of donations to assist me in purchasing a new hard drive for the storage solution to slowly bring back requests to it’s former glory. This morning I woke up to a flurry of support from various users near and far both in the form of PayPal donations and arrangements for other methods. I am deeply touched by all of your support and thank you all for your help in keeping this entertainment train chugging along and giving true meaning to the name NoBreaks. If you were ever curious as to why it’s called NoBreaks.ca it’s because when I started my collection of media I dreamt of having a system in place that could grow on it’s own based on my specific tastes and be ready for me to enjoy at any time without needing information spoon fed into it every time I wanted to update the collection. Through the support of my friends and family I was able to achieve this dream and share it with them. Now, I’ve brought it to you the users and in a way you have become part of my family.… Read More »A Thank You and Introducing A New Way To Watch!

Requests Temporarily Suspended

Hello everyone, A bit of bad news. Currently we have roughly 500 gigabytes of space left free on the NAS and currently I don’t have the available funds to immediately purchase more disks to fill the final two slots in the NAS and give us the space required to keep up with the incredible demand. Shortly requests will be disabled and a notice put up indicating the downtime with a link to this post. Once I have more disks we can easily re-enable requests and pick up where we left off. Existing requests that are not complete will continue to be searched for as usual. What can you do to help? Dig deep and donate! A 4TB disk currently costs roughly 170 Canadian dollars, plus tax and possibly shipping as local prices are slightly higher. [paypal_donation_button] My goal is to keep this service free however as you can imagine it does cost a decent amount for the upkeep of the hardware as well as the substantial connection we utilize so all I will do is ask you to assist however please do not feel obligated at all. That being said, keep in mind that we have now hit 50 TB of content… Read More »Requests Temporarily Suspended

Requests Explained

Hello everyone, With requests stability starting to become steady I figured I’d give some insight into what happens when you request something and hopefully answer that burning question, “Why isn’t my request up yet?” From the second you visit the requests landing page it’s communicating with all the other systems used to give you the user experience you know and love. Firstly it will check for Plex to be up so you’ll know if you can watch what you’re going to request as soon as it’s ready. Note that even when Plex is down you can continue to request stuff. Next when you start typing in a title to request it will narrow down as you type the shows you might be looking for and hopefully display the exact one you’d like to request. As this occurs its accessing a cache of whats in the database to be searched for and what is already on Plex as well as a list of what’s on Netflix. Yes, you can see if what you’re requesting is on Netflix. Then you can see it as soon as you access your Netflix account however who needs Netflix when you’ve got Plex! Once the show… Read More »Requests Explained

Transcoding Errors Today

Hello everyone, As you may have noticed recently there have been errors playing back media with errors related to connection to the server. This was entirely on the server end and you have nothing to worry about. A special thanks to both our team member jattrockz and user MomLamb for bringing this to my attention. It seems that during some routine cleanup, certain python modules critical to remote transcoding were removed. This meant that the servers thought everything was working fine and sent commands to start processing which never got anything going and then continued to do so in a loop. All is well now, but please do continue to alert me to any issues you encounter.

Upgraded Movie Media Management

Hello everyone, Recently I have been noticing some issues with our CouchPotato installation and rather than try and resurrect it I decided to install and configure Radarr the Movie fork/version of Sonarr. It’s taken some decent work to configure just right because it’s so versatile but I believe I’ve got everything sorted out and it is beautiful. I’ve already been able to find more than I’ve ever been able to and in quality worthy of Plex. The integration of the various newznab services is very efficient and the configuration enables for deep fine tuning. Using this new software we are able to easily set profiles to match the media to and cut off points as to where the file will no longer be monitored for newer/better versions. Radarr also integrates (beta) with requests and has been tested somewhat to ensure functionality. Not that Radarr is still in development so glitches may occur however so far so good and I’m very impressed. Please be sure as usual to report any issues. Enjoy! The LightSpeed Team
