Requests Temporarily Suspended

Hello everyone,

A bit of bad news. Currently we have roughly 500 gigabytes of space left free on the NAS and currently I don’t have the available funds to immediately purchase more disks to fill the final two slots in the NAS and give us the space required to keep up with the incredible demand.

Shortly requests will be disabled and a notice put up indicating the downtime with a link to this post. Once I have more disks we can easily re-enable requests and pick up where we left off. Existing requests that are not complete will continue to be searched for as usual.

What can you do to help? Dig deep and donate! A 4TB disk currently costs roughly 170 Canadian dollars, plus tax and possibly shipping as local prices are slightly higher.

My goal is to keep this service free however as you can imagine it does cost a decent amount for the upkeep of the hardware as well as the substantial connection we utilize so all I will do is ask you to assist however please do not feel obligated at all.

That being said, keep in mind that we have now hit 50 TB of content give or take a few TB for other data stored such as backups of critical information which are stored in a separate enclosure on a separate RAID 6 volume than the actual media.

A farther out goal will be to purchase a Dell PowerEdge R720xd storage server and populate it with 26 (24 in the front and 2 on the RAID card backplane) 4TB 2.5 inch HDD’s or maybe one day SSD’s and utilize it as the main node as it would be much more powerful than the current R610 and convert the original main node into a dedicated transcoder node. Not to mention the removal of the bottleneck which currently exists in that all the media that needs to go through Plex on the main node is operating at a peak of 4 gigabits per second verses the 6 gigabytes per second of an internal disk.

Every little bit helps!
