Warp Engine

Captain on the bridge!

Ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to the next leg of our journey, we’ve entered warp.

I’m please to inform you that all the necessary migrations of the various databases and software we utilize to bring you the media experience you know and love are complete.

There have been many upgrades both of a physical and a virtual nature. The main server which houses Plex itself has been upgraded to a Dell PowerEdge R730xd LFF server with two Xeon 2680 V3 CPUs for a total of 48 logical core and 60 gigahertz of raw processing power.

So far, all tests indicate a stable experience and feedback has been positive.

A few footnote for you…

  • SyncLounge has been upgraded and our local server is the default so no more tedious setup. Check it out today!
  • The Movie and TV databases have been moved to a new Ubuntu 20.04 LTS installation running the most recent versions of their respective software
  • Media acquisition is at an all time record for speed. The two Samsung EVO 860’s the OS runs on enables for quick downloads and unpacking.
  • The dashboard has gotten a facelift and is more responsive

Today the UPS unit I ordered arrived so expect a quick downtime this evening for some power cable rerouting.

Four 10TB Seagate Exos hard drives are on their way to begin the RAID 6 array that will be the solution to our storage space limitations.

Last but not least. I’m please to inform you that as of the time of writing (May 31st, 2020, 4:25PM) we have two open slots up for referral to by eligible individuals. Get em’ before they’re gone!

Edit: These slots have been filled.

Enjoy!
