Potential Downtime

Some of you may be aware but here in Plex Town we are experiencing a decent bout of bad weather and as a result there is a potential for power loss and of course downtime. If the server reports as down or is inaccessible, know that it may simply be a power glitch and that everything will be back to normal and this post updated to reflect the outcome of any issues. Thanks for understanding! LightSpeed Update – we lost connectivity for a few minutes earlier however all is well now. The weather has calmed down but will continue to be dreary.

Request for Access and Content Forms Now Active

If you direct your attention to the left side bar you’ll see the usual uptime business however now there are new pages that allow you to email me directly with requests to access the server if you’re not a complete stranger. This will be determined based on who referred you. You can also request content and track its progress in the to-do posts I will add when working on adding additional content.   Enjoy,   LightSpeedTaco

Publicly Browsable Library [BETA] and Uptime Statistics

Lets say the server is getting slammed or is even offline but you’d like to plan what to watch next. Now this is possible with the addition of  PlexPort which is not my work, it is in fact the work of  Luke Lanchester from Hybrid Logic who made a piece of software called Plex Export. I’ve implemented both this and a more in depth version of the uptime page which can be found at No Breaks and at the footer, credit is given where credit is due. This is but a mere summer project and I’m not going to hijack other peoples hard work. I will be adding links to the sidebar for your convenience.  The script that updates PlexPort runs on my server every morning at 6 AM when all additions to the Plex Server would be assumed to be complete leaving a fully browsable library of what content resides on the server. Here you can see the latest edition to the server via PlexPort Neat, eh? Next order of business is a secure contact form to ask for access to the server and then a recommendation form with projected completion times.   LightSpeed

Commenting and User Creation Disabled

The spam began the second the site was created, users need not be created this blog is strictly informational. Step 1 is coming up with or finding (more likely) a little plugin that will tell you if the plex server is up or not. LightSpeedTaco Update: Used UptimeRobot for my monitoring. Once I’m back at home I’ll be creating a DDNS entry for my system so that the monitor will have more than a dynamic IP address to monitor for consistency.
