Backend Overhaul and Why

As a result of the discontinued support of a key piece of software utilized in keeping Nobreaks/LightSpeedPlex up to date with content and shift has been made to a new piece of software which requires some heavy reconfiguration to migrate all the data. Much of the existing data will be salvaged however large quantities of metadata will be rewritten to the media server over the next few days so please be patient if something isn’t quite correct on the server or an object you were expecting isn’t there when you figured it would usually be is. As you may be aware a LOT of data and metadata specifically is utilized to bring you the pretty front end you see so I’m sure you can understand. Sorry for any inconvenience! LightSpeedTaco

Large Addition to the TV Shows Section and Windows 10

Hey everyone, So as you may know Windows 10 dropped several days ago and being a member of the preview team I got a good look at the OS before it became public for daily use and ensured that all necessary software and hardware would work to ensure that Plex would not be affected by the upgrade any more than it should be (downtime during the actual upgrade). Things worked out very well with the exception of NIC teaming which is more of a local issue when we’re talking about actual streaming performance for members rather than affecting the output to you it was causing a little slowdown for myself and the movement of data locally. Other than that things are working wonderfully and I’ve been able to keep uptime properly well, up. Next on the agenda is something I’ve been hunting down and working on procuring for some time. I am a big fan of the TV show “How It’s Made” and am proud to announce that coming soon to Nobreaks.ca Plex we will have seasons 1 through to 24 available for your viewing pleasure with plans to expand to all 25 seasons and maintain recently aired episodes. Naturally… Read More »Large Addition to the TV Shows Section and Windows 10

Important Plex Forums Security Notice

I received the following email today, figured I’d help spread the unfortunate news and recommend that anyone signed up on the forums changes their password.   Dear Plex User, Sadly, we became aware this afternoon that the server which hosts our forums and blog was compromised. We are still investigating, but as far as we know, the attacker only gained access to these parts of our systems. Rest assured that credit card and other payment data are not stored on our servers at all. If you are receiving this email, you have a forum account which is linked to a plex.tv account. The attacker was able to gain access to IP addresses, private messages, email addresses and encrypted forum passwords (in technical terms, they are hashed and salted). Despite the password encryption measures, we take your privacy and security very seriously, so as a precaution, we’re requiring that you change your password. Be sure to choose a strong password, never share it, and never re-use passwords for different accounts! Even better, use a password manager (1Password, for example) to manage a unique password for you. Access to your Plex account will be blocked until you do so. Please follow this… Read More »Important Plex Forums Security Notice

Proud Pride Supporter

In light of the new legislation allowing same-sex marriage nationally in the United States of America I just wanted to congratulate all the potential newlyweds and those who can finally express their love publicly and officially be joined in union regardless of gender. Nobreaks.ca is a proud supporter of free thinking and most of all the right to choose how to live ones life. We are Nobreaks.ca

Follow us on Twitter!

Hey everyone, As you may have noticed, in the sidebar there’s a section linking to a Twitter account for the site/server. I was debating between this and a newsletter you can subscribe to however most people (like me) are probably already swamped with emails daily and don’t want another one to deal with every time I sneeze and Plex goes down. So I opted for the Twitter route. By following us you’ll get the quickest news about uptime and potential issues as well as reboots and such. Even without following us, checking our page on Twitter or the sidebar here will easily. I hope this comes in handy! LightSpeedTaco
