System Maintenance to Occur Today

Hello everyone, Please note that today between 4 PM EST and 12 AM EST the server will be down for maintenance while I make some changes to the cooling system of the server. An improperly sat CPU cooler is what I believe to be causing unnecessarily high CPU temperatures resulting in downtime and lower performance. I will be installing an AIO liquid cooling solution which I plan to retrofit with four 140mm fans rather than the stock two. I will also be swapping the silent low RPM fans for higher performance ones. This post will be updates when the work is complete. Sorry for any inconvience, LightSpeedTaco Updated at 9:44 PM EST Work is completed and the issue seems to be resolved. If there is any downtime up till midnight it is related to this maintenance however I expect things to be stable. Enjoy!

Contact Me Page is Live

It’ll be in the top left of the menus with the other pages. I also plan to make a picture guide of how to go about registering for use of the server. The process of registering at Plex.tv followed by submission of your email or username that you signed up with as well as accepting the invitation you will receive which will give yo access to the server.

Uninterruptible Power Supply Installed, now with less downtime!

Heres the scoop, A few days ago while I wasn’t home, my room-mate indicated that we had several power surges. Like a fool, my 8 TB NAS had write caching was enabled which it specifically warns not to enable because there is a potential to corrupt the cache and damage sectors of the drive potentially causing data loss. Well, of course, one of my three terabyte drive crashed and I was playing with RAID 0 like a fool and lost the entire array. Now I run two 3 terabyte and 2 for terabyte drives in RAID 5 making for one disk redundancy. At the time I did not have a UPS since most of the commercial ones on the market cost a fortune and barely last 3 minutes considering what needs to be plugged in (my PC, one monitor, the NAS and the router/modem (since we use a DSL connection, power outages do not affect the DSL connection state therefore if your router/modem is still powered, you can continue to use the network no worries. Fortunately I got my hands on a massive business use UPS that weighs 60 pounds, however I had the option to go for a 120 lb… Read More »Uninterruptible Power Supply Installed, now with less downtime!

Safe and Secure

For some time I’ve had a GeoTrust SSL certificate laying around my web hosting services and decided to apply it to this site. All access to this site will now be protected and secure. Great for the admin login page. It used to be on an requested basis, meaning if you wanted the HTTPS version you’d have to type in https://dev.lightspeedta.co and most people would simply type in nobreaks.ca and get the standard HTTP page. Now all traffic is forced to be HTTPS. You shouldn’t notice much change in terms of speed or anything like that for the most part. LightSpeedTaco
