Daily Router Restart

Hello all,   Just a heads up that I’ve deployed a script on my router here that will reboot it daily at 5:00 AM EST every day to avoid collisions or other miscellaneous router troubles that have been occurring and that we all know and love. The reboot only takes about two minutes or so interruptions should be kept to a minimum. I tried to pick a time where the least users are likely to be on. Please let me know if this conflicts with any of you night owls schedules and we can work something out. Regards, LightSpeedTaco

Optimization to the Maximum and Finally a Real Backup Infrastructure

Its been a busy week here but it’s all paid off. The webpage is now fully optimized using Cloudflare and Amazon S3 CDN making for quick load times and minimal page size/HTTP requests. Also, I added a secondary CNAME DNS entry, hopefully that will ease some of the pressure on the primary DNS servers. Please let me know if you notice these changes or if you run into any problems feel free to contact me. LightSpeedTaco

Emergency Downtime

The local database folders where Plex moves around and organizes content however nothing was lost. Please Wait until the status page updates or check back here in a few hours to see if I’ve updated this post. LightSpeedTaco Update – The server is back up and pretty well fully functional with the exception of some information like posters for some movies which I will fix later today. Update 2 – The indexing and information gathering is mainly done. Please report any issues via the contact page. Update 3 – The Web server experienced issues yesterday night but is fully functional again. The downtime was only about two hours. Enjoy

Recent Webserver Instability

Well heres the scoop. A few days ago the server mysteriously decided to catastrophically fail resulting in the container (VM) requiring re-imaging with a fresh install of Cent OS 6.5. Once the server was re-imaged, I had to use a old full backup rather than an incremental as they all failed. So I had to upload a backup I had of all the files and databases however with some content including the proxy missing. Its been busy here but I finally put enough time into restoring and optimizing everything so things should be stable. Amongst the casualties we have the SSL cert from StartSSL, the Minecraft server, and the Teamspeak server. In time I will restore these things. My apologies. Regards, LightSpeedTaco

Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangsta

Amidst the hail of server re-images peace was found in the form of CentOS 6.5 Final as the OS of choice for the No Breaks Team. I’m comfortable with its file system structure and the bash of course makes sense. The whole idea of having root access to a server albeit a virtual server is something big to walk up to. I think I’ve gotten the hang of the basics as root(god) through my education. I know the dos and don’t s of server administration. The site and server should be stable this was basically a check in that we are alive and kicking.
