LightSpeedDashboard v2 | Sharing and User Caps | The Future

Ahoy everyone, It’s been quite some time since I’ve been able to put an update out here but I’ve tried to stay semi-active on Twitter which is located on the left sidebar for your convenience. Now that I’ve had a bit of downtime I was able to sit down and take care of a few loose ends and unfinished projects. First and foremost you may have noticed a change to the dashboard as we’ve update to the beta of Organizr v2 which has been fantastic to work with thus far. Some new features include… Single Sign On for the requests page (Ombi) A new look Better performance Along with all of the usual goodies like seeing whats being watched currently, what you’ve requested and it’s status, what’s coming down the pipes currently (50% working), and the schedule with color coded legend. I have also taken the time to actually fully rebuild the OS and migrate to a Ubuntu 18.04 installation with a brand spanking new Apache configuration which is much cleaner and efficient. I also took advantage of DigitalOcean’s new optimized droplets for a faster and smoother experience for everyone. Earlier today when traffic was very slow I updated PlexMediaServer… Read More »LightSpeedDashboard v2 | Sharing and User Caps | The Future

Introducing The LightSpeedDashboard

Hello everyone, Hope all is well and you all had a wonderful holidays and are having a happy new year thus far. Below you’ll find a copy of the email sent out on the 21st of December 2017 to existing members at the time. This post is basically for archival purposes and for new members visibility however I am looking into a welcome email that can go out to new users automatically. Until then see the below. Hello everyone, LightSpeedTaco here with a fantastic new resource for you! Introducing the LightSpeedDashboard, your new all in one source for all things LightSpeed. For a few months I’ve been working on this project in where I aimed to simplify the way users access, browse, search and request content. Rather than having to go here and there and check various places for the latest links to follow to use pages like requests and the most recent details regarding newly added and upcoming content I’ve centralized things into one easy to use and intuitive system.  Head over to the LightSpeedDashboard and check it out now! Login with your usual Plex.tv credentials for access. Below are some of the features I think you’ll find most… Read More »Introducing The LightSpeedDashboard

A Fresh Start | No More Errors…For Real This Time | Updated Requests System

Hello everyone, It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to make a post here but I figured you all deserved and explanation for the recent plague of downtime and playback issues. For a very long time the main server has run Ubuntu 16.04 and it’s been great to me however the other two servers were purchased and setup at a later date and for whatever reason I assumed going up a step to 17.04 wouldn’t be an issue, which was true for a while, until 17.10 came along and turned everything on it’s head. Plex Media Server as a clean install on 17.10 was a disaster in itself. Library version information errors, breaking critical aspects of the system like SSH, SSL and cURL. For days on end I dove through logs that ended up needing to be so verbose to diagnose the issues it took hours upon hours to finally find the root causes, yes multiple. It was a trainwreck. Some clients that didn’t work prior worked flawlessly, the usual web player was a total write off and the load balancer was freaking out trying to make heads or tails of each failed session. I took a look… Read More »A Fresh Start | No More Errors…For Real This Time | Updated Requests System

The Return of Requests | Benefits for Donors

Hello everyone, So with the new disks in place we are prepared to re-enable the requests system but this time there’s been some changes. Things got a little out of control with the old system’s lenient settings and the result was the rapid consumption of the available disk space which led to the temporary shutdown of the requests system which I would prefer to leave operational as long as possible so to stretch out the disk space as we do not have any more slots available for new disks the requests system will be limited to one of each type of media we offer (Movies, Music and TV Shows/Anime) for a total of 3 requests per person per week. These settings are tentative and basically a test to ease back into taking/processing requests and will be adjusted per user needs as observed. For those who have donated there is the added perk of being able to bypass this weekly limit. I figure this could be my way of giving a little extra benefit to those who choose to donate without completely removing the option for regular users to still submit content. All requests will remain auto-approved unless issues arise. Additionally… Read More »The Return of Requests | Benefits for Donors

A Huge Thanks and the Future

Hello everyone, Well we did it! Thanks to the tremendous amount of support everyone has provided us we’ve been able to purchase not one, but two Seagate IronWolf NAS 4TB hard drives! With this we will once again be able to begin to accumulate new media which we have yet to collect without deleting any of the current collection. Currently the disks are about 40% migrated in terms of the RAID reorganizing itself to accommodate the new drives. Once they’re integrated we will have a grand total of roughly 64 TB of space in the NAS overall. This should be plenty of space for the time being however be aware that we have now completely filled the NAS including it’s two mSATA slots which are being utilized for the SSD cache acceleration feature. This means that we can no longer simply buy more hard disks and make more space. You may be thinking, well, there are 10 TB hard drives available now, why not use them? Two factors are big roadblocks for this solution, cost (currently) and the RAID configuration which requires a minimum of 4 of the same size disks to optimally achieve a RAID 6 array meaning 4x… Read More »A Huge Thanks and the Future
