Media – Now In Original Languages

Hello everyone,

A along standing limitation to some of the systems, particularly those related to movie type media, prevented the system from automatically fulfilling requests for media that was not in English audio. Among other tweaks and improvements behind the scenes, I am pleased to now inform you that requests for media that is in a non-English language or in it’s original language will be considered active and searched for just like any other movie media.

Currently, I am retroactively addressing some of the older requests that were stuck processing due to this limitation. Going forwards, new requests will be processed normally regardless of original film language.

This has been a long standing requested feature (non-English film processing/fulfillment) but the main issue was that if the film was requested, and the viewer that ends up watching it isn’t able to understand the spoken language of the original film but still wishes to enjoy it. As new media is added, it is considered for matches towards several subtitle resources that attempt to locate and make available English subtitles for each film in real time.

In summary, both platforms (Plex and Jellyfin) will going forward provide original language films and also automatically do the best it can to locate suitable and accurate English subtitles by default.
