The Return of Twitter Updates and Requests!

With the upgrade to the NAS in the first place, a whole new set of opportunities has been finally taken advantage of. As I type this, the NAS is about a little more than half way complete of its 12 TB expansion bringing us to a full 32 TB of potential media space. However I’m proud to announce that our Twitter updates are back up and running. Know exactly what when your favorite items are posted. As well, the popular request system has been reborn and is new and improved. There will be a link in the sidebar to the appropriate site which is running on a VM on the NAS due to Windows dependent aspects of the software however when the NAS is up, the VM automatically starts 60 seconds after boot. To request a TV show or movie, go ahead and login with your Plex.tv credentials, only those with the shared library access and a maximum of 5 requests per week are allowed. Any requests made will send me a push notification where I will be allowing or denying the request for processing and subsequent addition to the library. As much as I hate to use this, I’d… Read More »The Return of Twitter Updates and Requests!

Hard Disk Space Upgrade

Tomorrow (Feb 16th 2016) the server will be undergoing a planned expansion to the full capacity of the server to 10 hard drives making for 40 TB of raw space and 32 TB of usable space with two disk redundancy via RAID 6. With all the content added in the past month we have run into less than 1 TB of disk space but we haven’t run out of slots! So things may be slower going as the array expands the disk space and redundancy to the three new disks being introduced. For future record, we are 8TB capable and can eventually upgrade to the point of 80 raw TB and 64 TB of dual disk redundant capacity. There may be a bit of downtime involved but let’s see how things go. Regards, LightSpeedTaco

Automated Content Updates (Currently Down) – Know the Moment its Available / Firmware Conundrum

Hey everyone, Well last night this morning was interesting. There was a beta level update for the NAS that the server runs on and I said hey what the hell. Big mistake. Never go beta on critical systems. Turns out the update was bogus for my model and didn’t apply so somehow it was able to apply and ended up totally nuking the kernel to the NAS firmware and it became totally unresponsive particularly on a network level. My theory is that it believed I had a NAS that fell under the qualifications for said update which did not include my model which is a 10 bay. When I looked at which versions were available for download, no 10 bay devices were mentioned which makes me wonder why the hell I was offered the update. Anyways, after a risky and lengthy process of downgrading the system back to an appropriate firmware, things slipped back into normality without any data loss thankfully. Now, onto the good news! You may be aware of the Twitter account for Nobreaks which is @NobreaksPlex. I’ve successfully enabled the NAS to report to said Twitter account when new content is added within a 60 second window… Read More »Automated Content Updates (Currently Down) – Know the Moment its Available / Firmware Conundrum

The HD Update

Hello everyone, With the turn of a new year I have decided that its time to get with the program and update the server with the most HD content possible. While most of the recent content is in HD, I will be revisiting some classics and ensuring their content is HD through and through as well as adding some classics such as Sienfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends, all in HD. Among those to be upgraded, South Park and the Simpsons. At this time Family Guy’s earlier episodes are out of my reach in any highest quality. Keep an eye out and as always requests are taken via the contact me page. Enjoy! LightSpeedTaco

The Return of X Files and an Update on the Big 3

Hey everyone, Happy new year! With last year come and gone we’ve seen a lot of updates to the Nobreaks Plex Media Server. Our current state seems to be our best and is meeting the most demanding of situations. As you may know, X Files is returning! As a result we have picked up the series and the entirety of the series will be available in HD early this morning. On another note, the Big 3 (those being Bleach, Naruto Shippuden and One Piece) have all been added and index by the server and can be found in the anime section for your viewing pleasure. They will be kept up to date and most of the episodes are in HD excluding some of the early episodes. Welcome to 2016, we hope it’ll be another fantastic year for Nobreaks and yourselves!
