Downtime Incoming

Hello everyone! On the 16th of April 2016 I will be physically relocating the server, speeds and such will remain the same however during the time of physical moving the server will of course be offline. I cannot give an exact time frame but I expect to be back up and running by late night (EST) of the 16th and likely for sure on the 17th. An email will go out to all users reminding them of this outage. Regards, LightSpeedTaco

Exclusive Premium Library

Hey everyone! Big news, with the vast server resources available I’ve been working on a little project where I could keep some premium content. We’re talking episodes before air dates, movies in the finest 4k quality. Because of the nature of the stress this will put on the server per person using it I will be limiting access to those who can decipher the text below. Once deciphered it’ll provide a link which can be used to begin the registration process. To the elite few who solve it, your reward awaits. Requests System Stability

Hello everyone, I’m aware that the return of the requests system has brought with it some issues of uptime and this is mainly due to the fact that the software is running on the NAS via a Windows 10 VM in a little python command line window. This made it rather unstable and restarts due to updates common which would sometimes cause the software not to launch properly upon reboot. I’m happy to say goodbye Windows 10 VM, hello Ubuntu VM. I’ve given the new VM plenty of resources and it is so much more resource friendly. Not only does this eliminate the need for two separate VMs but also puts things in an environment where I am much more comfortable making changes and moving things around. Final testing is going to occur now so if you’re seeing this and I posted it a minute ago, yeah the requests server will be down. Just making sure it starts on boot. Other than that, I will be physically moving the location of the NAS in mid April so it may be down for a day or two but more on that to come. Plex on! LightSpeedTaco

The Return of Twitter Updates and Requests!

With the upgrade to the NAS in the first place, a whole new set of opportunities has been finally taken advantage of. As I type this, the NAS is about a little more than half way complete of its 12 TB expansion bringing us to a full 32 TB of potential media space. However I’m proud to announce that our Twitter updates are back up and running. Know exactly what when your favorite items are posted. As well, the popular request system has been reborn and is new and improved. There will be a link in the sidebar to the appropriate site which is running on a VM on the NAS due to Windows dependent aspects of the software however when the NAS is up, the VM automatically starts 60 seconds after boot. To request a TV show or movie, go ahead and login with your Plex.tv credentials, only those with the shared library access and a maximum of 5 requests per week are allowed. Any requests made will send me a push notification where I will be allowing or denying the request for processing and subsequent addition to the library. As much as I hate to use this, I’d… Read More »The Return of Twitter Updates and Requests!

Hard Disk Space Upgrade

Tomorrow (Feb 16th 2016) the server will be undergoing a planned expansion to the full capacity of the server to 10 hard drives making for 40 TB of raw space and 32 TB of usable space with two disk redundancy via RAID 6. With all the content added in the past month we have run into less than 1 TB of disk space but we haven’t run out of slots! So things may be slower going as the array expands the disk space and redundancy to the three new disks being introduced. For future record, we are 8TB capable and can eventually upgrade to the point of 80 raw TB and 64 TB of dual disk redundant capacity. There may be a bit of downtime involved but let’s see how things go. Regards, LightSpeedTaco
