No Internet Upgrade Yet but More Storage Space

Hey everyone, Well it turns out that the service mentioned in the earlier post is not available in my specific building yet and as a result can’t be upgraded to for the time being, but rest assured that as soon as it becomes available to me I will acquire it! In other news I finally got the NAS to utilize the expansion chassis as I wanted and as advertised. Apparently with the expansion units, one needs too create a new RAID group prior to the storage pool being able to expand which doesn’t make much sense to me but whats done is done and now we currently have 44.29 TB of usable storage space spread across two RAID 6 arrays consisting of ten 4 TB disk and six 4 TB disks which will soon be upgraded to 10 disks as well to make for a total of around 58 TB of usable space with two disk fault redundancy per RAID group. Not too shabby. That’s all for now! LightSpeedTaco

Fastest Connection to Date and s Word Regarding Account Sharing

Hey everyone! So first the good news, today we will be upgrading to a 1GBps download connection with 50 MBps upload speed, more than double our current! I’ll keep you posted via twitter as things occur however keep in mind this obviously means downtime for a bit while the service is switched and modem upgraded. What does this mean to you though, basically less wait time for requests, faster automated fetching of new content and better, higher quality streams (provided your connection (download) can support it) and blazing fast speeds. Now on a more serious note. I’ve noticed some users account sharing meaning they have more than on user accessing the same account and therefore being logged as an account sharer and gumming up my logs regarding popular content that I collect. While I was never a stickler for no account sharing, the size that Nobreaks.ca and LightSpeedPlex has gotten to, a lot of data flows through a lot of systems and to have the extra overhead of a flip flopping IP for a user account sharing isn’t something I’m able to deal with. Upon suspected account sharing, you’ll recieve an email from me regarding the issue. If not responded… Read More »Fastest Connection to Date and s Word Regarding Account Sharing

Hardware Upgrades Incoming!

Hey everyone, While I’ve had no problems with the existing hardware of the server, boasting a quad core 3.5 Ghz Xeon processor, 16 gigs of DDR3 expandable to 32 gigs and 10 bays compatible with 8 TB drives. It’s come to light that an opportunity to upgrade has dawned upon me. I have purchased an REXP-1000-Pro SAS/SATA/SSD expansion for the existing NAS which will be connected via a SAS expansion card which will be installed into the server making it possible to (with the existing RAM specs of the server) expand to up to 400 raw TB of storage. In this case I’ll be starting with one expansion module however the SAS card will be able to accommodate up to 4. I have also purchased two 128 GB mSATA solid state drives which will act as caches for reading from the NAS making the read performance significantly faster. Now the last thing to upgrade would be the RAM which as stated earlier can be expanded to 32 GB however given the RAM usage I’ve observed over time, this upgrade is not necessary at this time but will eventually occur. Update: Picture incoming soon but it turns out the expansion does… Read More »Hardware Upgrades Incoming!

Discontinuation of Twitter Updates and Plex Requests Downtime

Hey everyone, Some gnarly updates have messed with the web server running the requests page and as a result requests will have to be done the old fashioned way via the Contact Me page. This method will be more reliable as the database of shows and movies available through the requests page was limited to older shows and few at that as well. Also, twitter updates don’t seem to be much of a hit so the twitter account will now be used for simple status updates and such. That’s all! LightSpeedTaco
