The Fruits of Upgrading

Hey everyone, If you recall there was some downtime while I swapped some hard drives around and the reindexing and RAID establishment took some time. Well things finally finished up and here are the results! 14.42 terabytes of usable storage space and two disk redundancy. Here’s the spanned volume Plex resides on. The NAS is used for backup. The Return of the Plex Media Server – Be Gentle

Well everyone it’s finally done. Everything’s upgraded and we have more disk space for media now and the NAS has also followed suit and expanded it’s storage space so all is well here. Now, keep in mind that the due to the nature of this work and the movement, physically, of hardware resulted in the library being blown away and now it is being rebuilt. That includes episode information and show/movie details. The process of indexing all of this media is very intense for the system so please be gentle for the next day or two with use. Once indexing slows down I’ll restart media fetching and new content will appear as it becomes readily available. Have a good one! LightSpeedTaco Update: Media acquisition is active again and currently catching up on any missed media. Update: Annndddd…we’re back at full speed

Plex Media Server Down for Hard Drive Upgrades

It was a little unexpected having been as busy as I was, the automated system was doing its thing and fetching media and so by the time I got around to checking up on storage use I realized that it was running low! As a result I’ve swapped around some disks between my PC and the NAS, I plan to have Plex back up and running by the end of today. I’ll keep this post updated. Sorry for the inconvenience! LightSpeedTaco Update: ETA on full functionality 1 day 11 hours. It’s 10 terabytes of data…   Update: Good morning/afternoon. ETA is now 6 hours. Update: As of 5:16PM EST the current ETA is 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Intermittent Service and Downtime of the Plex Server

Hey everyone, Yep, I’m still alive! Anyways, I suspect that for the past few days or potentially for longer, a surge protector which was utilized in the backbone connection to the internet for the systems here was interfering with the quality of the connection and as a result the server was not functioning at full speed and at time was down entirely. The problem has been addressed and things seem to be running at full speed again. Please feel free to contact me regarding any issues you may still encounter. Regards, LightSpeedTaco

Massive Milestone in Content Delivery and Uptime

Hey everyone! I’m proud today to let you know that we’ve hit a massive milestone in the content available. We knew we had a lot when we needed a 6 bay RAID 6 NAS stuffed to the gills with 11 TB of usable storage and 2 disk fault tolerance over a full gigabit network but this is just crazy now.   To my knowledge we now have available every episode of every TV show on the server which is 179 individual series totaling a whopping 12,828 individual episodes. I can barely believe my eyes. This goes without mentioning the 652 movies also available. The sheer volume of everything has bar exceeded my expectations when I initially planned to begin to learn some more diverse server management skills and hone my networking skills in a real world environment. Thanks to everyone who regularly use the server and I hope you’ve noticed the steady uptime we’ve had. As a result of the aquisition of a lot of this content recently the streams may have been sub par in quality and speed however this should no longer be an issue as I think I’ve got enough content for now.
